The Complete Guide to Creating Amazon Listings: Single and Bulk Methods

After successfully opening your Amazon seller account, the next big step is adding your products to the marketplace. Generally, there are two ways to create listings on Amazon: you can either upload them one by one (single listing) or add multiple products at the same time (bulk upload).

Before you start clicking buttons in Seller Central, you need to prepare. Listing products without preparation usually leads to errors and poor search rankings.

Here is my recommended roadmap to get everything ready in an Excel file before you begin.

The Preparation Roadmap

I highly recommend gathering all your product data in a spreadsheet first. Here is what you need to prepare:

A) Keyword Research and Copywriting

Use a tool like Helium 10 to extract a list of strong, highly-searched keywords relevant to your product. Using these keywords, create the following elements:

Title: Create a clear and concise product title (around 75 characters) that explains exactly what the product is.

Item Highlights: Prepare these bullet points to help your product show up better in search results.

Bullet Points: Write a minimum of 5 bullet points. Explain the material, package contents, and the standout features of your product.

Description: Write a detailed text providing in-depth information about your item.

B) Identifiers

Prepare the SKU (Stock Keeping Unit) number you want to use for your product, along with a globally valid barcode like an EAN, GTIN, or UPC.

C) Visuals

Prepare your images. You will need 1 main image (with a pure white background) and up to 8 additional lifestyle or infographic images.

D) Pricing Strategy

Determine your price points. Prepare your Standard Price, List Price, Minimum and Maximum Prices, and your B2B (Business) Price.

E) Technical Specifications

Gather all the extra details: country of origin, product and package dimensions, package contents, compatibility information, material, color, and any necessary certifications.

Once you have all this information ready in your Excel file, follow the guides below to create your listings.
